The countryside is set to be the destination of choice for the majority of British families this Easter according to a recent survey conducted by irresistible Irish country and lifestyle clothing brand, Jack Murphy. The results revealed that, contrary to what many believe, we are not a nation of tech-dependent recluses, but instead very much a nation of countryside lovers. Some 70% of those surveyed said they regularly choose to spend their free time in the country.

This is clearly an emotive issue as the Jack Murphys Live and Love the Countryside survey revealed that people feel very strongly about the subject, with 73% stating that they felt it was vital for children to spend time outdoors in the countryside because it helps to develop their imaginations and stimulate a sense of freedom. However there was concern among respondents that children today could still be spending too much time indoors.

The survey results in respect of the UKs top five favorite stay-cation destinations were interesting, if not surprising. Top of the list of places people said they like to visit was the Lake District, followed closely by the Yorkshire Dales, the Cotswolds, Dartmoor and Devon.

Caitrona Kelly, Marketing Manager at Jack Murphy comments: "With a visit to the countryside firmly on most families Easter agendas, any of the aforementioned countryside locations should surely be worthy of consideration for both their outstanding natural beauty and the myriad of activities they offer in the great outdoors. Whether you prefer cycling country lanes, hill-walking, picnicking or taking part in an Easter Egg hunt many of which are arranged by some of the countrys magnificent country estates at this time of year - remember the weather at Easter can be particularly variable. Even when the sun shines there still tends to be a chill in the air.

Thats why at Jack Murphy weve created a range of country and lifestyle clothing that will keep you warm and dry without the need to compromise on style. If you take a layered approach to dressing topped off with one of our thoughtfully stylish wax jackets for venturing out into the great outdoors youll be both stylishly attired and poised to deal with those April showers advises Caitrona.

Our new Spring Summer 2013 Collection is available online now at www.jackmurphy.co.uk"
