The BID Awards are still open for nominations until 6 March so get nominating!

This is the third year celebrating the brilliant businesses and individuals who make Cheltenham town centre the vibrant, dynamic and diverse area that it is.

The response we have received for these awards over the past two years has been phenomenal so this year we have partnered with Cheltenham BID to deliver these awards again.

From young individuals setting great examples to the go-to pubs, salons offering all your health and beauty needs to the place you always go for a tea or coffee - we want you to highlight the best the Cheltenham BID zone has to offer across our 10 categories.

What is Cheltenham BID

Cheltenham Business Improvement District (BID) was set up in August 2016 with the twin aims of attracting more people to our town and encouraging them to stay for longer.

BIDs are business-led and business-funded bodies set up to improve a defined area, with the money raised being spent on a range of projects. The Cheltenham BID zone covers the High Street, Promenade, Montpellier and The Brewery Quarter.

The BID has pledged to deliver improvements in five key areas: marketing and promotion, town centre events, parking and accessibility, business support and public realm improvements.

Message from Cheltenham BID Director, Kevan Blackadder

When we launched the Cheltenham BID Awards, it was important we did so with a trusted local media brand.

We were delighted with the support and publicity we have received from Cotswold Life and look forward to an even better awards process this year.

Whether you work for one of our businesses or are a regular customer, we want you to help us recognise the great work done in the town centre.

Our 600 businesses cover a wide range of sectors: independent and national retailers, restaurants, pubs, bars, clubs and hotels, leisure, health and beauty and professional services.

Make sure you take your chance to say thank you through the Cheltenham BID Awards.

Categories and criteria

Customer Service Award

Open to any individual who goes above and beyond for their customers.

We are looking for the person who has demonstrated outstanding commitment, application, passion and focus, and has made an exceptional contribution to customer experience.

Newcomer of the Year

Open to any business that has opened in the BID zone no longer than the 18 months before January 1, 2020.

Judges will pay particular attention to how the company started out and how it has performed. What differentiates the company's products/services from their competitors and what is their potential for growth?

Young Business Person of the Year

Open to dynamic individuals aged under 30 on January 1, 2020.

They could be a young entrepreneur building their own business or an employee who has had an outstanding impact on a larger organisation. They may have actively taken steps to exceed customer expectations, raised their organisation's profile or demonstrated vision and ambition. Please provide a date of birth within the nomination.

Retail Manager of the Year

Open to any retail manager who deserves recognition for their continued, valued contribution to the store.

Do they implement invaluable projects or initiatives, strive for great sales performance, lead and/or mentor team members or go above and beyond the ordinary in customer service and community relations?

Health & Beauty Business of the Year

Open to any business that is excelling in the health and beauty sector. What are they doing to set them apart from the competition? We are looking for a business that offers an invaluable experience for their customers with innovative thinking and ideas.

Independent Business of the Year

Judges are looking for first-class customer service and innovative products and services. Perhaps they have been involved within the local community, shown environmental awareness or have won previous awards.

Professional Services Business of the Year

Open to organisations of any size, there is no definitive list of occupations, but accountants, architects, dentists, engineering, healthcare, law, IT, investment and finance and training companies would all be eligible.

The winner will have shown a strong financial performance, excellent customer service and stand out from their competitors.

Tea/Coffee shop of the Year

Judges will look for the tea or coffee shop that is best able to create an outstanding customer experience. It is likely to include a warm welcome in a great atmosphere, high-quality drinks, tasty food and excellent customer service. Regular clientele could be a testament to their success.

Bar/Pub/Club of the Year

The winner of this category could be a vibrant bar or club, bustling with party-goers throughout the week, or a cosy pub serving up wholesome meals - or maybe it's a bit of both!

Staff will provide a friendly service and put customers' needs first. A well-known spot, this pub/bar/club will also boast regular clientele.

Restaurant of the Year

This category seeks restaurants of any style or price point. It is aimed at establishments that put fine food and drink centre stage - but also offer the very best service and ambience.

Our winning restaurant must have great food, a special ambience, outstanding staff and brilliant decor.
