Paul Davis, Managing Director of Cotswold Inns & Hotels is running the London Marathon in aid of Acorn's Children's Hospices.

Cotswold Inns and Hotels own properties around the Cotswolds in Worcestershire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The company was launched in 1997 by Michael and Pamela Horton and Paul Davis became the Managing Director in 2015 after 17 years of service, starting as general manager at The Bay Tree Hotel in 1999.

Acorn’s Children’s Hospices are the Cotswold Inns and Hotels chosen charity due to very close family ties, and the company have now been supporting Acorn’s for 5 years, raising over £23,000 to date. Over the years, fundraising has consisted of staff initiatives, hosting charity events and asking all guests to add a £1 donation to their total bill.

This year, Cotswold Inns and Hotels are increasing their fundraising efforts, with Mr. Davis, a keen runner (although not usually long-distance), currently in training for the 26.2 mile-long London Marathon and aiming to raise an additional £5,000 for Acorns on behalf of Cotswold Inns and Hotels.

When describing his challenge, Mr. Davis said; “We have always worked hard as a company to inspire both our staff and guests to help us raise the much-needed funds that Acorns need, and having recently visited Acorns in Worcester myself, I have seen first-hand the difference that this fundraising makes. This has given me the drive I need to continue training hard to complete this marathon challenge in the best possible time!”

In order to reach the ambitious £5,000 target, Cotswold Inns and Hotels are calling for their customers’ help. A prize draw, offering the chance to win a Cotswold break with dinner, Champagne and a Molton Brown gift (and 3 more prizes) is currently in place across all properties and online. To be entered, simply donate £5 at your nearest hotel, completing a ‘Marathon Man’ card or visit www.justgiving.com/cotswold-inns-hotels and leave your email address within the comments field.

Individual hotels have also been running their own fundraising schemes on the countdown to the Marathon on 24th April, with The Broadway Hotel having raised £900 in their Jeroboam raffle, held during Cheltenham Race Week, and the Manor House Hotel currently offering a special ‘Pasta runs Faster’ menu option to diners, where £2 from every one sold is being added to the fundraising pot.
