The Rifles Charity Ball was held recently in aid of Care for Casualties at Cheltenham College.

The Rifles were formed in February 2007. They are the successors to The Royal Green Jackets, Light Infantry, Devonshire and Dorset Regiment and The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment.

The Rifles are now Gloucestershires infantry regiment and 1 Rifles, based in Chepstow, are currently on operations in Afghanistan. Since formation, The Rifles have suffered more casualties than any other regiment with 55 killed in action and over 250 seriously injured with life changing injuries.

Care for Casualties exists to support the bereaved, the wounded and their families and to ensure ongoing care. Guests enjoyed a champagne reception followed by the ceremony of Sounding Retreat and a wonderful meal catered by Williams Kitchen at Calcot. After dinner, guests made their bids during an auction of promises and danced the night away to the sounds of True Colours.
