The Olympic flame reaches the Cotswolds

The residents of Staunton and Corse came out in force to cheer the torch-bearers carrying the Olympic flame. The main road through the village was lined, often two or three people deep, with people waving flags and cheering.

The procession of official vehicles, which included Police motorbikes and sponsors buses, came through the village with lights flashing and flags billowing in the wind, before the torch bearers were met by a wall of noise from the cheering onlookers. The torch-bearers, who included competition winners, a disabled athlete and voluntary workers, all smiled and waved while carrying the flame aloft for all to see.
