In September 2001, a film crew arrived in Northleach and catapulted several local folk onto the stage of international celluloid.

In September 2001, a film crew arrived in Northleach and catapulted several local folk onto the stage of international celluloid. Nine years later, the first, genuine Northleach world premiere of The Gathering took place in the private cinema of Paul and Julia Caveller.

The Gathering, a mystery suspense starring Hollywood star Christina Ricci, Robert Hardy a bastion of British acting, Simon Russell Beale, Mackenzie Crook and Ioun Gryffydd, has strong religious overtones and has many twists and turns as it rolls through the Gloucestershire countryside.


Martin Riley, an occasional contributor to Cotswold Life, as a stray extra also spoke one memorable line as he tended a Market Stall in The Green, Northleach. This trivial cinematographic moment was the catalyst for the glittering, light-hearted evening of Hollywold.
