The FW Harvey Legacy:

Saturday, October 27,
10am-12.30pm

The FW Harvey Society has been working with FW Harveys family to secure the future of a fabulous archive of papers that were recovered from Highview, the family home in Yorkley. They are a marvellous testament to his life and work and include a vast range of material ranging from the original manuscripts of his poems written as a prisoner of war and bearing the Stamp of the German Censor through to correspondence with his friends and family including Ivor Gurney, Herbert Howells and many more. The family has agreed to deposit these papers at Gloucestershire Archives as a long term loan, in a dedicated Collection and these will be a major stimulus to interest and scholarship in FW Harvey. Exeter University has funded a scholarship to enable a PhD student to work with Gloucestershire Archives cataloguing the papers and producing a thesis.

News of the discovery of the papers and the archive project will be launched at the event at Kings School. This will include other talks on the Kings School during FW Harveys tenure and his work at the BBC.

The Kings School, Gloucester (arrive 9.30am, followed by optional lunch).

Tickets 7.50 (FW Harvey Society members 5); sandwich lunch 4 per person.

Ticket applications and pre-orders for lunch should be made to: Mrs Teresa Davies, tel: 01594 529597, www.fwharveysociety
