Remembrance Day 2020: Soldier silhouettes at Blenheim Palace

As a poignant homage to the soldiers who have fallen and Remembrance Day, Blenheim Palace has put on a magnificent display, Standing With Giants
Two hundred soldiers standing six-foot tall have descended upon the grounds of Blenheim Palace to commemorate Remembrance Day for 2020.
Created by Witney-based artist Dan Barton, the figures are created entirely from recycled building materials. The project is called Standing With Giants and aims to raise money and encourage donations for the Royal British Legion.
“This year, as a result of the coronavirus, many of the planned parades and services to mark Remembrance Day have had to be cancelled,” said Blenheim Palace’s Operations Director, Heather Carter.
“We wanted to do something that would still mark the occasion and help raise awareness of the ongoing need to support our veterans and the amazing work being carried out by the Royal British Legion.
“Now, more than ever, the assistance they can provide is sorely needed and we hope Dan’s extraordinary figures will serve as a fitting tribute to all the fallen and a reminder of the terrible cost of conflict,” she added.
The park and gardens at Blenheim will be open during lockdown so book your visit to see the installation now. Book on the Blenheim Palace website.
