They say that every dog has his day, and that was certainly the case at this year's Duke of Beaufort's Hunt Point-to-point at Didmarton.

With over 10,000 humans watching some horses running around, there were plentiful begging opportunities, especially in the vicinity of the hot dog and refreshment stalls. Some lucky animals were even treated to a new coat or collar at the trade stands.

As ever, the black lab proved popular, but the terrier community was out in force, along with some cute lurchers and one or two more exotic pedigrees.

Organisers reported that the crowd was generally well-behaved, although one bookmaker complained of a damp leg after an accident involving an over-excited Jack Russell.
