The 2nd Palm Wine Extravaganza was held at Cheltenham College to raise funds for the Kambia Appeal Fund, Sierra Leone. The charity was formed at Cheltenham hospital some years ago by members of the medical fraternity to aid Kambia Hospital and there are now close links with small town of Kambia with many exchange visits of staff between the two hospitals.

This year's event was in aid of their transport programme to provide a special bus to ferry pregnant mothers to the Kambia hospital, covering a 50-mile radius of villages and bush roads. Local businesses supported the Palm Wine event so well that virtually everything required for the occasion was donated and just over 22,000 was raised.
