Go to Sudeley Castle this weekend to transform the fence by the play area into a work of art. Each day artist, Lisa Yardley, and staff from Cheltenham art Gallery & Museum will be on site and theyd like you to drop in and help them make and decorate flags to install along the fence. There will be lots of materials and things to inspire you so do go along and take part in the art.
Castle Art is part of Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museums off-site programme and is organised to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Katherine Parr. Katherine Parr was Henry VIIIs sixth and final wife. After the Kings death in 1547 she married Thomas Seymour and the couple lived at Sudeley Castle. She died in 1548, a few days after giving birth to their daughter, and is buried at Sudeley.
Sophia Wilson, Exhibitions & Education Manager, says, By the end of the residency we hope to have a whole stream of flags running the length of the fence to create a band of floating colour. Weve worked with Lisa Yardley before and her workshops are always fun to take part in.
