Brewery Blues - Funk Special

Friday, May 25, 7.45-11pm

George Montague and his band are big fans of Brewery Blues and its a feeling that is reciprocal. A natural-born entertainer, George in his lighter moments resembles Norman Wisdom meets Jim Carey. But dont let that fool you, as a singer-songwriter hes an artist who is destined for great things - playing straight from the heart.

His music is a truly eclectic cocktail of genres rolled up into a completely unique sound with energetic rock, pop, soul and blues, underpinned with vintage R&B, funk and jazz all honed to an alternative edge... with his talents on piano, guitar and ukulele and a superb band at his finger tips, George entertains audiences of every age with unforgettable inspirational performances.

His debut album, Have you met George, released on April 23 and produced by the legendary Matt Butler at world-famous Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, has certainly captured his live on the floor energy. Accompanied by a virtuoso array of amazing musicians the recording was fuelled by the slick and grooving, imaginative, enthusiastic and joyous atmosphere that George exudes. His lust for writing, composing and exploring innovative sounds shines through; the arrangements and mixes bear testimony to this talented 20-year-olds creativity.

Hes also an underground cyber YouTube sensation, having already released tracks from this album on YouTube. Hold On was released as the first single with Blood Ties following closely after. In just a few months, these well produced videos have had over two million unique views!

In years to come youll still be reminiscing about the night you saw George Montague live at Brewery Blues. So, dont miss out, get those tickets ordered while there are still some left.

In support is Gotcha, a sensational seven-piece outfit from Stroud and the five valleys made up of a solid rhythm section giving foundation to a four-piece brass section. Together they create a mix of musical styles from Jazz, Soul, Swing, Ska and Motown with more then a hint of Latino and Delta. Everything from Big Band to Rock Band delivered with foot-tapping verve and originality. They have recently recruited a fantastic new female guest vocalist who enables them to broaden their repertoire from an instrumental base.

Tickets in advance from New Brewery Arts: 01285 657181 at 9, (7 concessions/students) or 10 on the night. (8 concessions/students). Licensed bar. http://www.newbreweryarts.org.uk/live-music-and-performance/brewery-blues-c-296_399.html
