Bach B Minor Mass:
Saturday, May 26

The English Singers and Consort will be performing Bachs B Minor Mass in Cirencester Parish Church on Saturday, May 26 at 7.30pm.

Bach was musics most sublime creative genius, and his music fills our lives, cropping up in pop songs, adverts and TV soundtracks. The B-minor Mass is a glittering compilation of Bachs greatest hits and is widely acknowledged as the greatest choral piece ever.

The concert is the idea of local resident Charles Woodd. I recently turned 40 and decided it was a wonderful excuse to enjoy some fabulous music and to raise money for some excellent causes. Im also delighted we are able to bring this fantastic event to the wonderful setting of Cirencester Parish Church. It should be one of the musical highlights for the town this year!

The English Singers is a young, semi-professional London-based choir, which last visited Cirencester to great acclaim in 2005. They will be supported in this concert by a professional orchestra and exciting soloists from the London music scene.

The concert is a charity fund-raiser for St Jamess Place Foundation and Link Community Development. The concert costs have already been covered, and we hope that St Jamess Place will match for any funds raised for Link, with the matched funds being used to benefit the causes supported by the Foundation.

Link Community Development works to improve childrens education in Africa and is widely recognised as the partner of choice in this field. The St Jamess Place Foundation has raised over 20m for charities supporting disadvantaged young children, the hospice movement and returning service personnel from the armed forces.

Tickets (10 and 8) are available from the Cornerstone Bookshop (tel: 01285 644599) or from
