Autumn has arrived and racehorse trainers are building up for the start of the jump season. Cotswold Life was invited to leading trainer Alan Kings Owners Day at the Barbury Castle Estate, near Marlborough where Alan trains over 130 horses.

Three hundred owners attended to see their horses parade in front of a packed crowd of fellow owners and the racing press, followed by lunch.

Equine stars included Mille Chief and Walkon (owned by the new yard sponsor Max McNeill, MD of Ultima Business Solutions), Oh Crick (Cheltenham winner in 2010 and owned by Cheltenham resident David Sewell), and Katchit (Champion Hurdle winner 2008 and
part-owned by David Bellamy Chief Executive of Cirencester-based St Jamess Place Wealth Management). Also in attendance were Nigel and Penny Bunter the owners of the Barbury estate, John Haydon of Clarendon Farm Stud in Teffont and, of course, stable jockey
Choc Thornton.
