Archant

We caught up with family firm Carpetwise, Curtainwise and Furniturewise for some expert home decor advice.

The way we furnish and decorate our houses are a reflection of ourselves – the tones and fabrics create spaces that can enhance our moods and desires. Whether you want relaxing, energising, cool or calm, there is a range of palettes that when put together will make that perfect room.

Colour trends for 2016

Pantone, the authority on colour, have named their Colours of the Year as Rose Quartz and Serenity, which are warming and calming shades of blush and blue. Having been popular for years in bedrooms they are now making an appearance in the rest of the house.

Use pattern and texture

Washed out prints, nature and textures are currently popular in all the main fabric houses including the new collection from Romo, which can be viewed here.

Mixing on trend colours with flooring to create the atmosphere you want couldn’t be easier, according to Julie from Carpetwise Curtainwise and Furniturewise. “Carpets make use of this natural, organic and textural trend with a variety of loops, boucle and twists in wool mixes,” she says, “and then easy care synthetic saxony piles give a soft luxury touch.”

Try alternatives to natural wood and stone for a modern finish

Karndean design Flooring has many textured wood and stone effect finishes to compliment a room that were featured in the recent Ideal Home Show ‘Good Homes’ room set. Pair this with mid century inspired furniture or a traditional classic. The upholstered furniture at Carpetwise, Curtainwise and Furniturewise offers a mix of updated fabrics in traditional styles and modern looks in textured weaves. Or opt for a piece from the capsule retro dining collection Woodland to add a stylish accent.”

Ask a design expert

If this has whet your appetite for taking the first step to making your home more beautiful, then pop into the Statford upon Avon showroom for a browse. One of the experienced team, many of whom have worked for the company since it started, will be on hand to offer advice and guidance on the ranges on offer and what products would best suit you.

Carpetwise, Curtainwise and Furniturewise, based in Stratford-upon-Avon is a family run business established in 1982. It has grown to become one of the Midlands’ leading specialists in carpets, hard floor coverings, rugs, curtains, blinds and soft furnishings, stocking many well-known brands, such as Brintons Fine Carpets and Clarke & Clarke Interior Fabrics. The company has also expanded to incorporate furniture in its ranges, so that almost everything you need to furnish your home is under one roof.

If you want to see what the mix of colours look like in your home before making that big decision, most of the current collection sample books are available for a ten day home loan.

Visit the showroom at Unit 2, Avon Retail Park, Wharf Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire CV37 OAD
