Its blossom time in the Arboretum when youll find clouds of pink in every shade possible! Wander through our national collection of Japanese flowering cherry trees and enjoy the larger than life blooms of 73 species of Magnolia. Why not combine your visit with a look around the Plant Centre and Garden Shop full of everything you need for the gardening season ahead as well as a fabulous range of bedding plants.

We are open free to individual RHS members throughout January. Simply show us your membership card and enjoy!

The Applestore at Batsford 1st Birthday Celebration. Sunday 14th April

Bring out the bunting its party time at Batsford as we celebrate the 1st birthday of the beautiful Applestore home to an inspirational range of gifts and furniture given a new lease of life by talented owner Heather Priest using Annie Sloan paints. Learn how to upcycle your own furniture in our painting and gilding demonstrations; enjoy live music and childrens face painting. Theres 5% off everything in the Applestore (excluding paint range) and drinks, canaps and a big birthday cake at lunchtime!

Festival of Japanese Flowering Cherries. Monday 15th to Tuesday 30th April

Batsford holds the National Collection of Japanese Flowering Cherries and weather permitting they should be at their blooming peak during these two weeks. Youll find blossoms ranging from pure white to fuchsia pink and every shade in between.

Beginners Garden Photography. Wednesday 24th April. 10.30am to 3pm.

Spring at Batsford Arboretum is a fantastic time to capture the early flowers and, nature permitting, the stunning blossom of the Japanese flowering cherries. Our informal beginners garden photography course with award winning photographer James Kerr will arm you with tips and advice to help improve the quality of your photographs. With Jamess help youll learn how to develop your own style and grow in confidence. Please bring your digital camera, lenses and a tripod if you have one. Come prepared for whatever the weather throws at us.

Places are limited so please book early to secure your place.

Price: Tickets cost 75 per person which includes a light lunch of soup and home-made bread, a slice of cake and a cup of filter coffee or tea + entrance to the Arboretum.

Dawn Chorus Wild Walk April 27th. 0400.

The perfect chance to witness the beauty of the dawn chorus in the fabulous surroundings of our arboretum. Join Batsfords Bird Man Arthur Ball who has more than 40 years experience of birding on a walk in the arboretum identifying birds from their song and then enjoy a bacon roll and coffee in the Visitor Centre. Bring binoculars, sturdy footwear and a torch! Tickets cost 10 and must be booked in advance by calling us on 01386 701441.
