The key to a good farm shop is not only the range of produce and the layout, but also the principles that it supports. This category celebrates the Cotswold farm shops dedicated to local produce and excellent service
Best Farm Shop
Lower Clopton Farm is nestled at the base of Meon Hill 7 miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon at the gateway to the Cotswolds. A family run business, Richard is the third generation to work the 211 acre farm which produces traditionally farmed beef, lamb and turkey as well as a small amount of arable crops which are mainly used to feed and bed the stock. From their own beef and lamb to fresh bread & pastries from the on-site bakery, the Lower Clopton Farm Shop sells a great variety of high quality, freshly made, locally sourced, seasonal food. Richard believes in supporting the British economy so 99% of the farm shop’s produce is British.
Judges praised the impression given by Lower Clopton Farm Shop, even from the outside of the establishment. Staff were described as attentive and the layout of the shop made it very easy for customers to locate items. Seasonality was noted as being prevalent.
