This category celebrates the Cotswolds’ finest menus - full of local producers that change seasonally and incorporate a wide range of dishes for all palates
Best Cotswold Menu
Winner – Gloucester Services, Gloucester
Founders John and Barbara Dunning hail from Cumbria, where they set up Tebay Services – the first family run motorway service station on the UK road network in 1972. Last year, they brought their local take on roadside services to the Cotswolds – headed up by their daughter Sarah Dunning. One of the main goals of the Westmoreland Family business is to root it to its local area and give customers a ‘taste of the surrounded landscape’ while also helping the local community by creating a means of sustainable income. This is why Gloucester services showcase products and dishes from local producers and farmers to charity partners and suppliers. The farm shop and open-kitchen style restaurant has become an unlikely fixture on the Cotswold foodie scene.
Judges were impressed with the menu at Gloucester Services and commented that rarely one business venture can have had such an impact on the Cotswold food scene. The judges described Gloucester Services as a superb showcase for local produce and a real boost to the region’s economy.
Highly Commended – Jolly Nice, Frampton Mansell
Highly Commended – Wild Thyme, Chipping Norton
