Double medal win for cake decorating duo
Cotswolds Finest Cakes is a family cake designing and decorating business in Cirencester, run by multi-award winner Aggy Dadan and partner Andrew Pole.
At Aggy’s latest show at the NEC Birmingham, she collected Gold for her chocolate sculpture of a Warrior Giant complete with tattoos and piercings.
The sculpture took about 10 days to make in between other projects and has a metal skeleton inside. The skeleton has been covered in white chocolate and carefully sculpted into a detailed piece, then hand-painted and airbrushed. It was given a Gold award in ‘Decorative Exhibit’, which is Aggy’s 3rd international gold award.
As well as Aggy’s success, the main baker from Cotswolds Finest Cakes Andrew Pole decided to have go this year to see if he has learnt enough to take home an award.
For his first ever cake, he created a sunken treasure chest using only cake and fondant icing - so the whole piece is fully edible. The gold coins were handmade and painted and even the jewels are made from sugar. The cake was judged as a Bronze in the ‘Sculpted novelty’ category.
