From exceptional service to a menu packed with locally sourced, seasonal produce and an outstanding wine list. The best restaurant in the Cotswolds is one of the most coveted titles you can have
The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.
We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about the Cotswold countryside and the future of our local environment.
Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ Award, sponsored by Peter Hickman Hairdressers.
This year’s finalists
What a fantastic find in the centre of Cheltenham, judges commented that you might not know KibouSushi was there, but were made to feel very welcome once they had arrived. The menu was a great mix of sushi, ramen and hot Japanese dishes and judges couldn’t fault the staff’s helpfulness and knowledge on their dishes. It was noted that the presentation of the food was beautiful and you can tell that they care about the food that is placed in front of their customers. Although snug inside, if you’re looking for a fantastic sushi restaurant, this is the place.
Michael’s Mediterranean, Chipping Campden
Michael’s Mediterranean was described by judges as a little gem in the heart of the Cotswolds transporting you to Greece on your doorstep. The smell, quality and quantity of food was excellent, and judges were impressed by the fast service, polite and helpful staff and reasonable price of the dishes for such great quality. It was a charming and unique restaurant and the judges felt very relaxed, enjoying the Greek & Mediterranean dishes and fresh fish served.
And the winner is...
The Old Passage, Arlingham
The Old Passage wowed judges with the amazing selection of seafood available, warm and friendly service and extensive wine list including local vineyards. The location of the restaurant is superb with breathtaking view of the riverside, the ambience made the judges feel at home and it was commented that they couldn’t have asked for friendlier service. The seafood sampled was cooked to perfection and it was learnt how they source as much produce as locally as possible and sustainably catch their seafood, which impressed the judges.
