Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2018: Family Dining Award

From cosy pubs to rustic inns, the Cotswolds are home to some of the finest dining pubs in the region perfect for a family meal out. Here’s our winner of the Family Dining Award...

The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.

We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about the Cotswold countryside and the future of our local environment.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Family Dining Award’, sponsored by Cotswold Life Business & Professional magazine.

This year’s finalists

Circus Sauce, Giffords Circus

Judges were impressed with the unique concept of Circus Sauce, as it travels around with the famous Giffords Circus. It was described that the best way to end a splendid circus show had to be dining at the ‘starlit travelling restaurant’, aptly named Circus Sauce. The colourful interior was inviting and picturesque. Complimentary comments were made about the three courses of fantastically rustic fare, using locally sourced ingredients, and their root vegetable gratin was a real treat!

The Roastery Coffee House, Quedgeley

The Roastery Coffee House, situated in Orchard Business Park, has a great family feel as soon as you walk through the door noted judges. The staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming, and the array of food and drinks on the menu looked delicious and of what was sampled, very tasty. They have a wide range of coffees to suit every taste, and must be accompanied by one of the amazing homemade cakes!

And the winner is...

The Red Lion, Long Compton

Judges mentioned that the Red Lion felt very homely and staff were very friendly and attentive, especially with the children. They offer a comprehensive menu choice, using locally sourced ingredients. Judges were impressed with the children’s facilities; the large garden was a big plus with a wonderful play area for children and an outdoor eating area, so you can keep an eye on the little ones. A great find for all ages.
