Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2018: Customer Service Award

Archant

Knowledgable staff, a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere were all part of the judges' criteria for the best customer service in the Cotswolds

The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.

We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about the Cotswold countryside and the future of our local environment.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Customer Service Award’, sponsored by Jonny-Rocks Chauffeurs.

This year’s finalists

The Coconut Tree, Cheltenham

The Coconut Tree had a vey welcoming, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Judges commented that the staff were very hospitable and it was a lovely relaxed setting. They were treated to the manager ‘Nav’ explaining the menu to them and he made great suggestions on what to order and on quantities too. It was clear the staff are knowledgeable on the more unusual menu. It was mentioned that it was a nice touch to have the menu explained, especially if you’ve never visited the restaurant before, you were really made to feel at home here.

The Grape Escape, Cheltenham

It was clear wine was their passion at The Grape Escape. Upon arriving judges were welcomed by owner Ant into the comfortable atmosphere of the wine bar. Judges noted that they couldn’t fault the staff’s knowledge on the wine within the tasting, answering any questions they had. It was described as a great place to go before a meal or have some snacks and some great wine.

And the winner is...

L’Artisan, Cheltenham

Judges were highly impressed with how welcoming L’Artisan staff were upon arrival, even though the judges noted they had arrived early. It was mentioned that the staff have great knowledge of the menu, offering dishes and wines to accompany them. They thought that the restaurant itself was a lovely, intimate setting with beautiful décor. A real plus was that head chef and owner Yves came out to speak to customers after they had finished their evening to make sure it had been enjoyable. The judges couldn’t have asked for more!
