Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2018: Best Farm Shop

Archant

Locally sourced produce, delicious freshly baked bread and exotic treats. Is your mouth watering yet? It will be after you pay a visit to the best farm shop in the Cotswolds

The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.

We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about the Cotswold countryside and the future of our local environment.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Best Farm Shop’ Award, sponsored by the Royal Agricultural University.

This year’s finalists

Court Farm Shop, Cheltenham

Described by the judges as inviting and welcoming, Court Farm Shop was a pleasure to shop in. Produce was clear and easy to find and judges particularly loved that children could buy an individual bantam’s egg! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and judges were impressed that the shop runs Open Farm Days for the local community to come along, learn about the farm and meet the suppliers.

Jolly Nice, Frampton Mansell

Jolly Nice is a very attractive shop in a beautiful setting with an abundance of plants outside. The judges mentioned that the fruit and vegetables are well displayed through a collection of stalls and the deli was very well stocked plenty of with luxury items. Staff were charming and helpful. Judges commented that the ice cream sampled was delicious and they would highly recommend it!

And the winner is...

Over Farm Market, Gloucester

Over Farm Market has an exceptional array of goods and clearly labelled where grown on the farm. Judges liked how the shop flowed naturally from one department to another and were particularly impressed with the ostrich eggs, home made quiches and brownies on sale. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and the judges praised the open days held at the farm and educational events for local children.
