Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2018: Best Cotswold Pub

From cosy pubs to rustic inns, the Cotswolds are home to some of the finest pubs in the country. Here’s our winner of the Best Pub at the Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2018

The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.

We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about the Cotswold countryside and the future of our local environment.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Best Cotswold Pub’ Award, sponsored by NFU Mutual Moreton-in-Marsh & Cheltenham.

This year’s finalists...

The Boat Inn, Ashleworth

The Boat Inn made the judges feel extremely welcome. Their very popular, traditional, waterside pub has a large local following. Judges commented on how they clearly take local producers very seriously both in their food and drinks available. The service was prompt and staff knowledgeable on the extensive menu. Portions were described as being extremely generous and not for the faint hearted!

The Red Lion, Arlingham

The Red Lion Inn at Arlingham presents itself as extremely good value for money with both its food and drinks. The pub is owned by the village and runs regular events for Arlingham to attend. The judges noted that the sirloin steak was to be the best they’d had in a long time and they were very impressed with the wide variety of food available to order. The staff were efficient, friendly and accommodating and the food was quickly served. A real find in the area.

And the winner is...

The Hare, Milton-under-Wychwood

The Hare was noted to have an inviting ambience. Judges commented that the staff were friendly and the pub was clearly loved as no table was vacant! Judges were impressed by the well thought out menu which incorporated a great mix of local produce especially noting the Oddington Asparagus and the Cackle Bean Eggs. A polished Cotswold pub with exceptionally good food and a lovely setting with a great team.
