This was your opportunity to nominate your favourite drinks product aside from ale beer or cider that is made by a Cotswold farmer, producer, retailer or manufacturer. We announce this year’s worthy winner.
The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.
We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about the Cotswold countryside and the future of our local environment.
Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Drinks Product of the Year’ Award.
This year’s finalists
Cloud Nine Blend, Bow-in-the-Cloud Vineyard, Malmesbury
Bow-in-the-Cloud has been producing high-quality wines since 1995 and not only do their products taste great, they also operate the business with minimal impact on the environment too.
Cloud Nine Blend was described by judges as being ethically and environmentally produced and judges liked the fact it is predominantly through market stalls. Overall it was described as an excellent wine and a delight to drink.
Overhang, Overhang Drinks, Cheltenham
This 100 year old, bottled family recipe is an uplifting drink designed to support a busy lifestyle. Made with orange, ginger, lime and milk thistles it rehydrates and refreshes at any time of day.
Overhang impressed judges with the fantastic taste and great business venture and expansion plans for the future. The branding was described as clear and striking and judges thought it is a great product in an exciting marketing sector.
And the winner is…
Apple juice, Day’s Cottage, Brookthorpe
Not only does this year’s winner taste exceptionally delicious as it is made with the apple juice from mature orchards in Gloucestershire, but the process of making it is environmentally friendly too (no sprays, chemicals or artificial fertilisers).
Judges noted the Apple Juice as having a delicious, refreshing taste. They also commented that the passion that the owners have for their product and the ethical and environmental impact of its production has was inspiring.
Day’s Cottage has won awards for their work and commitment to the local environment, now they can add ‘Drinks Product of the Year’ to the list. Congratulations.
