Locally sourced produce, delicious freshly baked bread and exotic treats. Is your mouth watering yet? It will be after you pay a visit to the best farm shop in the Cotswolds.
The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.
We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about the Cotswold countryside and the future of our local environment.
Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Best Farm Shop’ in the Cotswolds…
This year’s finalists
Coombe Hill Farm Shop, Gloucester
Coombe Hill Farm Shop is a family run shop by farmers Sam and Phillipa. They specialise in selling home reared free range pork, lamb, eggs and local beef. They also offer a wonderful selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Judges described Coombe Hill Farm Shop as formative venture created with ambition from a hard working knowledgeable proprietor who has extensive farming and countryside experience. Judges praised the showcase of stock, in particular the great selection of seasonal vegetables available.
Over Farm Market, Over
Over Farm Market was first established in 1982 after Rob and Sue Keene converted a former lorry garage into their farm shop. They have lovingly served the Gloucestershire community for over 30 years, selling the best, locally produced products for their customers.
As well as having a farm shop and growing over 20 varieties of fruit and vegetables, Over Farm has a beautiful barn venue, an airstrip and year round entertainment – there is something for everyone.
Over Farm Market was described as being inviting from the exterior. There was a vast range to choose from including a great range of meats and seasonal home grown vegetables. Judges were also impressed with the ingredients box deal which included meat, vegetables and fruit – the idea being the items to create a fantastic meal.
And the winner is…
Court Farm Shop, Cheltenham
Owners Simon and Lisa researched the possibility of opening a farm shop for two years before putting their plan into action. They have successfully created a natural balance between providing an outlet for their own & local produce as well as educating people about farming practices, the value of the countryside and the importance of supporting local farmers.
Court Farm Shop impressed the judges with the close links to their community both in sponsoring school and other local events with produce or offering education insight into farming and produce. They were said to have an extensive offer of deals and a great knowledge of their stock holding.
The Best Farm Shop Award is sponsored by Arthur David
