Cotswold Food & Drink Awards 2016: Cotswold Food Hero 2016
PUBLISHED: 08:50 26 July 2016 | UPDATED: 10:37 26 July 2016
Every year we honour people within the local community who do so much to help producers, restaurateurs, cafes, pubs, chefs and those in the hospitality industry
The Cotswolds has a food scene which is more vibrant than many others across the UK. This category celebrates the individual who has made the most impact on the food community. They will be someone who goes the extra mile to promote the Cotswolds to a wider audience and is passionate about local produce throughout.
Our Cotswold Food Hero 2016 is…
Ever since we began the food and drink awards, Rob Rees has been alongside us, judging, advising, helping. One of us. So, for that reason alone, we simply couldn’t give him one of our awards.
He’s now in Australia and we miss him beyond measure. But the good thing is that we can now recognise all he’s done for us in the Cotswolds.
In the latest news flash, Rob Rees – MBE – has been appointed President of Nutrition Australia, a non-profit organisation that aims to promote the health and well-being of all Australians.
They’re very fortunate to have him. In this country, among his many achievements is the founding of the Wiggly Worm charity that works tirelessly, using food and cooking to change society for the better and for good; working to make work-places all inclusive. Speaking up for the vulnerable, the disadvantaged, the seldom-heard. That work is continuing and Rob continues – wherever he is in the world – to be a part of it.
His work has helped to feed thousands of children in food poverty and he has always shouted about the excellence of Cotswold food producers and service providers.
We thank Rob for all he has done and continues to do.
