In the present economic climate, its fairly rare to find the words independent education and affordable in the same sentence. But at The Royal High School, Bath, not only do they sit comfortably beside each other, they are also reinforced by the fact that the schools academic standards and the achievements and aspirations of its girls are among the highest in the country and yet its fees are among the lowest.

The school is fortunate to be one of 26 schools within the Girls Day School Trust (GDST) which affords it excellent economies of scale and able to offer an exceptional value, independent education for girls between the ages of 3-18.

Specialists in girls education since 1864, RHS is just a short walk from the historic, vibrant, cosmopolitan Bath city centre and is the perfect place for girls to live, study, have fun, make friends, enjoy life and develop a global perspective in education.

We are proud of our inspirational school, which offers the perfect combination of focused study and relaxed confidence in an idyllic girls only environment. The Royal High School Bath includes a lively outstanding Ofsted rated Nursery opening up 16 new places in September; a revitalised Junior School; a dynamic Senior School; and a truly thriving and contemporary 6th Form College offering the International Baccalaureate alongside A levels, all led by one of the rising stars and champions of girls only education, Rebecca Dougall.

The Royal High School Bath offers outstanding facilities and is fast becoming the school of choice for day and boarding girls aged between 3-18. Developing confident, capable, caring young women. We have a passionate belief in the pre-eminence of what we offer for girls and young women, says Rebecca Dougall, Head.

This is anchored not only in the outstanding examination results that our students routinely achieve but also in the evidence of the places they take up with confidence at leading UK and overseas universities. Recent university destinations for RHS girls range from Mathematics at Oxford and Architecture at Cambridge to Genetics at Aberystwyth, Film and Theatre at Reading and Engineering at Manchester.

This belief is also rooted in the levels of courtesy, collegiality and an unselfconscious mantra of getting stuck in that RHS girls manifest on an hourly basis. Rebecca Dougall continues, Its about knowing what girls need to become the best version of themselves that they can possibly be and promoting that in a totally focused way.

We allow girls to look at the curriculum, university courses and careers in a completely open-minded way. School spaces are designed with girls in mind; every curriculum and co-curriculum opportunity is available to girls as a matter of course.

No one in a girls school gets told that physics or engineering are a-typical. Former students and staff model what success can look like across a range of fields and thats incredibly exciting.

Our academic results are outstanding but we also look beyond that to individual talents, which I believe is why our school corridors buzz with confident, gregarious girls who are free to be themselves.

Girls here are equally at home brandishing blow torches, climbing mountains and rowing for gold, as they are re-living Shakespeare and unravelling algebraic equations. Theres something for everyone, and it all starts with a warm and friendly welcome.

Choosing the perfect school is a life forming and life- enhancing decision, so you want to be reassured that you have made the right decision for your daughter. Come and visit us and youll find that choice may be a lot easier than you think. A warm welcome awaits you.
