Westonbirt School and Rose Hill Westonbirt School bid a fond farewell to its Head Groundsman Bob Frayling last week after an incredible 27 years of service to the school!

Bob elected to retire on his 65th birthday, Tuesday 24th January 2012. He originally joined the school in 1984, left in 1992 but was persuaded to return in 1994, becoming Head Groundsman in 1999 and managing a team of five. With 210 acres of gardens and parkland to oversee, Bob has certainly never had a dull moment. Unable to tear himself away completely from the school, Bob will return in February 2012 to take on a part-time position as Green Keeper at Westonbirt Golf Course.

Staff gathered in the Headmistresss Drawing Room to present a farewell gift and wish Bob well. Headmistress of Westonbirt School, Mary Henderson, commented:

Bob has been a familiar face at Westonbirt for over 20 years and he will be much missed. Under his guidance the gardens at Westonbirt have been meticulously manicured and maintained and we are extremely grateful to him for his dedication and commitment. We would all like to wish him the very best in his retirement and I hope to bump into him soon on our Golf Course!
