To celebrate the opening of the newly refurbished cottages, Middletons Hotel is offering the chance for up to five guests to come and experience for themselves the newly finished rooms.
"Middletons Hotel, York, has started welcoming guests to experience its fabulous new look after completing Phase One of a £1 million investment.
Transforming the old Joseph Terry Alms Cottages to their luxurious new design has been a true labour of love for the House of Daniel Thwaites interior design team. They embarked upon extensive research into the history and heritage of the buildings uncovering the rich characters and stories that have all played their part in creating such unique and characterful buildings.
General Manager Adam Wardale said: "Middletons Hotel has bags of personality and our in-house design team have gone to great lengths to explore the history of each building within the hotel and come up with a design concept which tells the story whilst adding elements of a modern guest experience that people expect from a city centre hotel.
"Our new design plays on the unique character related to the heritage of each part of our site -where each guest room will feature a unique piece of handcrafted furniture, through to the Grade II Listed almshouses funded by public subscription in memory of Sir Joseph Terry that will incorporate a secret space for a Terry's Chocolate Orange to be found by our guests."
The many highlights of the new look Joseph Terry Cottages, include the flexibility of the space, with the ability to sleep up to six guests at a time, perfect for larger families or smaller groups. To make sure guests feel completely at home when they stay, there are added little extras like fluffy bathrobes, flat screen TV, a Lavazza coffee machine and proper chunky biscuits for an afternoon pick me up.
Middletons Hotel is part of the House of Daniel Thwaites collective which has developed a reputation for its refurbishment projects that celebrate heritage. Also part of the group is Judge's Lodging, which was transformed in 2014, and its most recent development, The Beverley Arms Hotel in Beverley, is now listed in the Times top 10 British hotels of 2018."
