A total of twelve awards will recognise some of the county’s most successful apprentices, schools, training providers and apprentice employers

Ben Hyde, winner of the Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year 2017, is encouraging local apprentices to enter this year’s awards.

Ben’s achievement at the 2017 Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards has helped him to spread the valuable message of apprenticeships and the success that they can bring to fellow young people around the county. Ben is now encouraging others to enter the awards before nominations close on Friday July 6.

Tables are on sale as well as sponsorship opportunities for the awards which will take place on November 15 2018 at West Midland Safari Park. Last year, the Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards attracted a record audience of 360 attendees and were hosted by Comedian and Radio 4 Star, Mark Watson. Hosts from previous Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards include Nick Hewer, Steph McGovern and Tim Campbell MBE.

A total of twelve awards will recognise some of the county’s most successful apprentices, schools, training providers and apprentice employers. These include:

Apprentice Awards

School of the Year – sponsored by Worcestershire Training Provider Association

Intermediate Level Apprentice of the Year

Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year – sponsored by Southco Manufacturing

Higher Level Apprentice of the Year – sponsored by University of Worcester

Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year – sponsored by Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd

Employer Awards

Newcomer Apprenticeship Employer of the Year

Small Apprenticeship Employer of the Year (< 50 employees) – sponsored by Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce

Medium Apprenticeship Employer of the Year (> 50 employees) – sponsored by CP Foods UK Ltd

Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year (> 250 employees) – sponsored by Amada UK

Apprenticeship Ambassador of the Year – sponsored by West Midlands Apprenticeship Ambassador Network

Training Provider of the Year – sponsored by Sanctuary Group

Worcestershire Apprenticeship Employer of the Year – sponsored by Worcester Bosch

Once again, the two overall awards are being sponsored by Worcester Bosch for Worcestershire Apprenticeship Employer of the Year and Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd for Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year.

Ben Hyde, Intermediate Apprentice and Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year 2017, said: “I have attended the Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards in Bewdley now two years in a row. Both experiences were very enjoyable to be a part of and there is a real sense of positivity around the room. Recognising the different aspects of the apprenticeship programme is great, from training providers, apprentices and to the employers; I would recommend anyone to put their names forward for an award.”

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “The Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards are always a fantastic event for recognising the high-quality apprenticeship opportunities that are available within the county. I look forward to being able to celebrate the achievements that apprentices have made and I would urge any interested parties to enter the awards at the earliest opportunity.”

Cllr Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Education and Skills at Worcestershire County Council, added: “There is less than two weeks left to submit nominations for the 2018 Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards, and I would encourage everybody to get involved. The previous awards have been thoroughly enjoyable and I am certain that 2018 will top these awards as we recognise the many success stories with apprentices in the last 12 months. I look forward to yet another memorable event.”
