Gloucestershire law firm Willans LLP has appointed three new solicitors, further strengthening its private client and commercial property teams
Emma Thompson has joined the Willans’ six-strong commercial property team from WSP, and advises clients on a wide range of issues including sales and purchases, landlord and tenant leasehold and ancillary matters.
Department head Nigel Whittaker, who was recently named a ‘leading individual’ by national guide The Legal 500, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Emma to the firm. She has joined our commercial property team at an exciting time of growth, and we are positive that our clients will be impressed by her can-do attitude and expertise”.
Willans’ wills, probate and trusts team have also appointed two additional solicitors to meet the demands of its thriving client base.
Jennifer Cockett joins the firm from Lodders and advises clients on wills, lasting powers of attorney and estate administration.
Rachel Sugden joins Willans from Harrison Clark Rickerbys, and is a full member of internationally-recognised professional body the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). She advises clients on wills and lasting powers of attorney, inheritance tax planning and the administration of trusts and estates.
Simon Cook, the department’s lead partner, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Jennifer and Rachel to the firm. I am confident that they will help us to meet the ever-increasing demand for the approachable, expert legal advice that Willans is known for.
“Our team is now one of the biggest of its kind in the region, and I look forward to seeing our new solicitors share in its success”.
The news comes as the firm secures another set of strong rankings across 11 departments in The Legal 500, with employment law and commercial litigation rated top-tier. Clients praise the firm’s wills, probate & trusts team’s ability to deliver advice “in a professional and, where appropriate, simplistic way, removing any jargon or perceived prior knowledge.” The commercial property team is praised for its “rounded, commercial understanding” and “first-class client care”.
