Leading Gloucestershire law firm Willans LLP celebrates their 70th birthday this month

Founded in 1947 by Alec Willans in Clarence Street, the firm is now housed across four buildings in Imperial Square and employs around 75 people.

The celebrations included a charity quiz held on March 22, which incorporated a ‘70th anniversary’ themed round to celebrate the milestone. Gloucestershire business brains were put to the test with a range of tricky questions, with Hazlewoods LLP taking home the winners’ trophy.

The quiz and subsequent charity auction raised around £2800 for The Nelson Trust, Willans’ chosen charity of the year.

Partner at Willans, James Grigg, said; “We were delighted to see the venue bursting at the seams and to see an array of local businesses put their brain power to the test in aid of a very worthwhile local charity. Thank you to all who took part, volunteered their time and donated raffle and auction prizes”.

Commenting on the success of the firm, managing partner Bridget Redmond said: “The firm today is very much the product of the hard work, professionalism and business acumen of the many partners and staff who have been involved with the firm during its 70 years.”

“We are better equipped than ever to look after our clients, their businesses and their evolving and complex needs. We have grown to a size that has enabled us to develop real depth of expertise in specialist areas including intellectual property and renewable energy, areas of specialism that Alec Willans wouldn’t have dreamed of back in 1947! Yet we are still committed to providing great, personal service to individuals, helping them with their wills or conveyancing, just as he would have done.”
