Threats come in all shapes and sizes, and entrepreneurs need to be better prepared than ever before, says cyber expert TechOP

Business leaders need to be prepared more now than ever before, when it comes to data security. In 2017, nearly 50% of all UK businesses were targeted and hit with a form of cyber security attack. The figure grows every year and is only increasing again. So, what can you do? Taking the stance that your business is not important enough for an attack is extremely risky, and simply untrue. Here at Tech OP Solutions, we offer a comprehensive Cyber Security Review service to enable organisations to improve cyber resilience strategies. Our aim with this service is to provide businesses with a comprehensive GAP analysis which identifies vulnerabilities and mitigates cyber risks.

How does this work? We visit your business, one or two days depending on size of the organisation, with the aim of gathering information to ascertain the status against ISO and Cyber Essentials standards, aligning with GDPR requirements. As an ISO 27001 certified organisation ourselves, we’ll conduct an interview based on our approved framework criteria, focusing on users, devices, permissions, policies and procedures, documentation, firewalls, servers, network infrastructure (physical and wi-fi), external connectivity and applications. A careful audit of the responses provides the necessary information to complete the GAP analysis.

Whilst on-site we will carry out a full independent penetration and vulnerability scan of every device on your network and all external sites and access points, scoring your network and identifying all current threats and weaknesses present on your system. It is worth noting, scanning the network does not impact on performance. The scan is crucial to assess the physical compliance of equipment and associated risks. This can be repeated consistently to assess changes and new equipment. An interactive report is produced that lists all vulnerabilities, most importantly including clear links that direct you to not only the information about the vulnerability found, but also includes the patch or workaround with full instructions, so that risks can be resolved. This process is certified against the standards highlighted previously; Cyber Essentials Plus, GDPR and ISO27001.

We provide a roadmap to offer guidance on continual future improvement. By considering these risks at an early stage and offering education to staff, you will stay that crucial step ahead of cyber crime.
