“We are very fortunate to be supported by fundraisers such as John, who enable us to continue supporting those affected by cancer; ensuring they don’t lose the joy of living by focussing on the fear of dying.”
SW&L Managing Director, John Rogers, spent ten days abroad cycling from Saigon in Vietnam to the ancient temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia alongside fellow charity bikers.
John explained: “Having recently lost my father to cancer I wanted to do something for Maggie’s and a friend of mine recommended this challenge. Despite the strenuous training, I’d never cycled more than 20 miles in one day before and during this trip we completed an average of 40 miles a day, reaching 237 miles in total.”
“It was great to help SW&L hand over the cheque to Maggie’s,” said Miss Cheltenham, Katy Van Hemelryk. “I helped John to improve his fitness during a week-long retreat with my health and fitness company, Zest24. Maggie’s is a fantastic charity and I enjoyed being a part of John’s fundraising.”
Maggie’s Cancer Centres in Cheltenham provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends.
Maria Pascoe from Maggie’s said: “We are very fortunate to be supported by fundraisers such as John, who enable us to continue supporting those affected by cancer; ensuring they don’t lose the joy of living by focussing on the fear of dying.”
