The Gloucestershire-based electrical contractor is being commended by Princess Anne for its commitment to training and skills development

Clarkson Evans is among 40 organisations to be awarded the prestigious Princess Royal Training Award, the City & Guilds Group has announced on Tuesday August 19.

The list of awardees includes public and private sector businesses of all sizes, from areas including hospitality, healthcare, finance and manufacturing. Clarkson Evans is the only company based in Gloucestershire and the only business operating in the new homes sector to have achieved this accolade.

The exceptional businesses will be honoured by HRH The Princess Royal for creating lasting impact by successfully linking their skills development needs to business performance. They will receive their awards in a ceremony due to take place this autumn.

The Princess Royal Training Awards were delivered for the first time last year by the City & Guilds Group. Each application was assessed against three Hallmarks of Excellence by the Princess Royal Training Awards Commission, which comprised of HRH The Princess Royal and seven leading figures in the business and training community.

Commenting on this year’s recipients, Chris Jones, Chief Executive of the City & Guilds Group said: ‘From household brands to leading charities, employers of all sizes across the UK are seeing real and tangible benefits of training and developing their people. The Princess Royal Training Awards provide both recognition and the opportunity to share best practice and its impact. I congratulate the 40 successful organisations who presented their evidence and achieved the standard required by the Award in 2017. They are worthy recipients of this prestigious and rigorous royal award and we are delighted to be able to deliver it through the City & Guilds Group.’

Lindsey Young, HR & Training Director at Clarkson Evans said: “The Princess Royal Training Award is yet another external endorsement of the quality of our staff training programme and we are thrilled to be among this year’s recipients.

“The marketplace to attract high calibre apprentices to join our company is increasingly competitive as more and more young people turn their backs on university and consider an apprenticeship instead. Securing this award will help to strengthen our position as an employer of choice in the construction industry and help to build our brand nationally,” added Lindsey.
