Randall & Payne has received a double shortlisting for the British Accountancy Awards, a prestigious national awards programme that celebrates and rewards the best accountancy firms in the country

Seen by many in the industry as ‘The Oscars of the accountancy world’, the British Accountancy Awards has shortlisted Gloucestershire-based Randall & Payne alongside the cream of UK accountancy practices, including teams in the Top 50 UK firms for 2016 (by turnover).

The company has been recognised in two categories and will discover its fate on 13 October 2017 during a glittering event attended by over 750 guests at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

The first shortlisting for the company has come in the ‘Audit Team of the Year’ category, and it recognises an area of the Randall & Payne business that has doubled in size in the last three years. The team is led by Partner Russel Byrd, who, earlier this year, was co-opted to the sit on the respected ICAEW Audit Registration Committee.

“Being shortlisted for this award is an amazing achievement for our audit team,” said Russel. “To put this into perspective, three of the other five practices shortlisted are in the Top 20 firms in the UK, so we’re in truly great company.

“I am really proud of the team. This recognition is testament to the strength and thinking of our staff and how hard we work to deliver a first-class product to our clients,” he concluded.

It was a successful client project with prominent local business WHC Hire Services that helped to secure Randall & Payne’s second nomination. The Tewkesbury-based plant hire company initially turned to Randall & Payne’s Business Advisory team to develop a strategic plan to drive sustainable and profitable growth.

But to ensure that the strategy became a reality, Randall & Payne developed a partner programme that utilised a range of experts from across its business to create a suite of on-demand services to help WHC ensure the success of its three-year plan.

Thanks to the positive impact of the project, Randall & Payne now hopes that its approach used with WHC will act as a model that the entire accounting industry can follow. The WHC project has been recognised in the ‘Best Client Project’ category, something that has delighted Will Abbott, Head of Business Advisory at Randall & Payne.

“It is very pleasing to have reached the final in this particular category, as the award is focused on how we have delivered great outcomes for the client, and serving customers well is the key to success in any business,” stated Will.

Randall & Payne, based on Shurdington Road in Cheltenham, has been trading in Gloucestershire for more than 130 years, employing 57 staff and offering a range of services, including tax, business advisory, accountancy, auditing and corporate finance. The accountancy firm has built a strong reputation for supporting a wide range of Gloucestershire-based businesses.

The full shortlist can be viewed on the British Accountancy Awards website.
