Award-winning dental manufacturer Prima Dental is all set to see a forty per cent increase in production thanks to a £5m investment programme at its production base in Gloucester.

Prima Dental’s latest planned investment programme, which was completed last month (July 2016), includes the installation of new state-of-the-art machinery and equipment for the production floor, together with the recruitment and training of new staff, bringing total employee numbers up to 180.

This investment enables Prima Dental to continue on its path of rapid growth and expansion and means the company can increase production to nearly 30 million units over the next year.

The company manufacturers, packages and exports dental drills and quality dental products to over 90 countries from its purpose-built facility at Waterwells Business Park in Quedgeley.

Prima Dental’s group managing director Richard Muller comments: “Last year we launched an ambitious expansion plan to treble in size over four years and this latest investment in our Gloucester plant enables us to achieve a step-up in production and respond to growing global demand for our product. We are now operating at full capacity across our plant. The plan requires new production space and we are now starting to seek suitable sites to build an additional production facility.”

With recent new contract wins and sales growth across growing markets including USA, South East Asia and Japan, Prima Dental is the world’s fastest-growing dental drill manufacturer. A winner of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2014, Prima Dental invests in the very latest machinery and technology, giving its engineers the same Swiss-manufactured equipment as the finest watchmakers in the world. A key element of Prima Dental’s growth and success is its ability to tailor products to the different preferences of each of its widely varying markets, and to innovate quickly in a technologically driven sector.

Last year Prima Dental launched a multi-million pound investment and joint venture agreement in Brazil, becoming the very first manufacturer of dental drills in South America. This Brazilian venture followed on from Prima Dental’s successful launch into the Indian market in 2014.

Prima Dental is a world leader in the design, engineering and production of top quality precision dental instruments. It exports to over 90 countries with growing markets in the USA, Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific. It is the fastest growing carbide bur (drill) manufacturer in the world and has gained an international reputation among leading distributors, practising dentists and academics for being at the cutting-edge of its industry.
