Gloucestershires Local Economic Partnership, which now describes itself at the place promotion agency for Gloucestershire and which celebrated its first very successful year in business in May, has successfully established a banking sector group that now has 11 of Gloucestershires banks regularly sitting together to discuss the broad issues that businesses are facing and how the banks can re-engage with them to support economic growth.

Cotswold Life was invited to one of their regular meetings and can confirm that yes, these banks really do want to get investing again and are determined to get this message out there.

Gloucestershire LEPs Banking Sector Group is chaired by David Atkinson, Area Director at Lloyds TSB. He said: Local banks want to contribute to the growth of Gloucestershire economy and want to be approachable, one of our first aims is to achieve this.

The Group is establishing a Web Portal aimed at the small and medium sized business section. It will explain what banks typically look for in a business seeking investment, top tips for finance and types of finance available.

The Banking Sector Group hopes that such information, will encourage businesses to prepare themselves more thoroughly before approaching a bank for funding.

We are serious about helping local business, said David. Helping businesses prepare themselves for investment is in everyone interests.
