Gloucestershire accountants Paish Tooth raise £2,350 in aid of Cheltenham Animal Shelter

£2,350 has been raised in support of Cheltenham Animal Shelter, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Paish Tooth, a local firm of accountants and tax advisors

In January this year Paish Tooth announced that they were making Cheltenham Animal Shelter their charity of the year, and since then the small accountancy practice has supported them in a variety of ways.

Paul Cox, associate director at Paish Tooth, visited the Shelter to present the team with a cheque for the final amount raised. It was received by Pete Newcombe, General Manager, and James Clay, Fundraising Manager for the charity, who commented: “We are delighted to receive this generous cheque from Paish Tooth, and would like to thank all the team for their fundraising efforts in aid of Cheltenham Animal Shelter. It’s been great to work with them in continuing to raise awareness of the important work we do as a charity.”

Cheltenham Animal Shelter rescues and re-homes unwanted and abandoned stray cats, dogs and small animals from across Gloucestershire, and has been doing so for over 90 years. They look after approximately 1,000 animals a year, and aim to educate the public in caring for animals as well as to ensure that every animal finds a new home which is right for them.

Paish Tooth’s fundraising efforts included a holding Pimm’s stall at the Shelter’s annual Summer Open Day, as well as selling mulled wine and mince pies at the Shelter’s recent Festive Evening. The most successful event was a charity quiz night held at Manor by the Lake in November, which attracted over 110 local businesses and animal enthusiasts.

In addition to the monetary amount raised, the Paish Tooth team volunteered their time by spending a day helping out at the Shelter, cleaning out the animals and exercising the dogs. They also sponsored one of the 40 dog kennels at the Shelter, helping with the cost of cleaning and heating the kennel and feeding each of the dogs in it.

John Tooth, Director at Paish Tooth, said: “This is the first time we have nominated a charity of the year, and we are thrilled to have been able to support Cheltenham Animal Shelter and to present them with our final fundraising figure.

The Paish Tooth team have thoroughly enjoyed being involved in a variety of fun events to help raise money for this very worthwhile local cause, and we are very grateful to everyone who has supported us in our efforts.”
