Organisers of the West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBA) have revealed 33 finalists, across 11 categories for WOBA 2016 at the special celebration business event, held at Worton Hall, Cassington.

Jo Sensecall of the WOBA organising team comments: “The WOBA class of 2016 is a testament to the strength and breadth of businesses we have across our district and this year has revealed a particular emphasis on the successful revival of our market towns. Several retailers have been recognised as finalists across categories ranging from Innovation through to Business Person of the Year, for their creative and strategic approach to retaining and attracting new customers.”

Familiar West Oxfordshire high street businesses to have made the final cut include: Lily’s Attic, Mickey Cranks, Bakers Butchers, The Shake Shop, Huffkins, iRepairTech, The Blunt Rabbit, Ticketty Boo and The Cotswold Tailor.

WOBA 2016 finalist, Richard Hikins, owner and CTO of iRepairTech, said: “We are overwhelmed to be a finalist in two of the three categories we entered. To think that I’ve gone from being made redundant, starting-up at home through to moving to the High Street three months ago and now a finalist in the WOBAs is amazing. It will really help to put us on the map and will be a major push for the business.”

The winner of each category is automatically entered into the STL Communications West Oxfordshire Business of the Year 2016 Award. This year’s prestigious trophy was revealed at the Celebration of Business Event, designed by art and design students from Abingdon & Witney College and made by Witney charity Synolos.

All winners will be announced 18 March 2016 at a glamorous Gala Dinner taking place at Heythrop Park Resort where fundraising will take place for the Laurence Home Nursing Team of Chipping Norton, winner of last year’s charity award.
