Gloucestershire law firms were able to quiz one of the senior officials of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority (SRA) at the latest legal briefing held at the Cheltenham office of national audit, tax and advisory firm Crowe Clark Whitehill.

Crowe’s network meeting for Compliance Officers for Finance and Administration (COFA) heard a presentation from SRA policy associate, Jatinder Loyal.

Ian Johnson, Director of the Professional Practices group in Crowe’s Cheltenham office, said the briefing included forthcoming changes to the SRA Accounts rules, as well as developing trends in SRA’s wider regulatory reforms.

He said: “There was lively discussion around some parts of the guidance, including the SRA’s view on providing banking facilities to clients versus holding client money where there is an underlying legal transaction.”

Crowe’s regular COFA briefings are well supported by the Gloucestershire and Cotswolds legal community and the latest meeting attracted key individuals from local firms.

Crowe’s next COFA meeting in Cheltenham is on Wednesday, December 13. Contact Ian Johnson on ian.johnson@crowecw.co.uk for an invitation.
