Large Manufacturer of the Year

We reveal the winner of this year’s award for Large Manufacturer of the Year, sponsored by the University of Gloucestershire

On the evening of Thursday September 20, we celebrated the region’s best innovative engineering and manufacturing companies at the fourth annual Cotswold Life Engineering Manufacturing Innovation Awards, held at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The glittering black tie ceremony celebrated the incredible achievements made by companies who really do put the Cotswolds on the map, drive the region’s economy and keep the area at the top of the tree when it comes to entrepreneurship and business success.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the award for Large Manufacturer of the Year, sponsored by the University of Gloucestershire.

The finalists are:

Corin Group, Cirencester

Hip and knee replacement manufacturer Corin turns over £100m annually at its state-of-the-art factory in Cirencester, employing more than 500 staff worldwide. With a number of key acquisitions over the past few years, including Tornier, five years of outstanding double-digit growth was celebrated earlier this year with a major investment from global investment firm Permira. It remains committed to manufacturing in the Cotswolds, investing £4m in its plant opened by HRH Primcess Anne, and exports more than 90% of the products it manufactures.

Severn Glocon Group, Gloucester

Severn Glocon Group is a global engineering firm at the forefront of global valve innovation. Along with its subsidiaries, it designs and manufactures engineered valve products and services to the energy industries, including subsea, LNG, and power.

Industry leaders know they can rely on Severn Glocon’s high-integrity products and advanced engineering to help them overcome complex and extreme production demands.

Turnover stands at an impressive £94m and international trade continues to drive profits.

SPP Pumps, Coleford

Coleford-based SPP is a global company with the main R&D, manufacturing and test facilities located in the UK and local sales, production, test and service sites in the USA, India, France, Italy, Poland, South Africa, Singapore, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

For more than 130 years SPP Pumps has been a leading manufacturer of centrifugal pumps and associated systems, a global principal in design, supply and servicing of pumps, pump packages and equipment for a wide range of applications and industry sectors. Turnover exceeds £79m.
