Cotswold Life EMI Awards 2017

Some of the most innovative engineering and manufacturing companies in the world call the Cotswolds home - and we are about to celebrate their considerable achievements. It’s time to count down to our third Cotswold Life Business & Professional EMI Awards and to meet our sponsors who make them happen

On November 2 at Cheltenham Racecourse, we will celebrate the region’s best engineering, manufacturing and innovative companies.

Have you bought your tickets yet?

There is no other awards ceremony here in the Cotswolds which showcases and celebrates the diversity in this sector in quite the same way.

We’ve been overwhelmed with the quality of entries so far, and we are looking forward to sharing their incredible achievements with you at our gala dinner later in the year.

It may seem surprising to outsiders who aren’t in the know, but the dry stone walls and undulating hills of the Cotswolds are home to a plethora of exceptional manufacturing and engineering businesses.

Companies which are continually innovating to deliver groundbreaking products and services that are in demand the world over.

For these are the companies that really do put the Cotswolds on the map, the companies that drive the region’s economy and keep this area at the top of the tree when it comes to entrepreneurship and business success.

The Cotswold Life Engineering, Manufacturing and Innovation Awards wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors. We asked them why they are supporting this initiative...

Danny Butler

Wynne-Jones IP

“As a local, but national IP firm with a strong heritage and growth story in engineering, manufacturing and innovation, we are delighted to be headline sponsor for this year’s EMI Awards.

“STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) sits at the heart of our own business, where we not only work with clients in these sectors, but more recently also have our own team of STEM Ambassadors within the firm that champion these disciplines alongside innovation.

“This community has long thrived on nurturing innovative businesses; engineering and manufacturing is also at the heart of numerous company growth stories across the Cotswolds.

“Recognising and rewarding the success of those who work in these areas is vital in helping engage future apprentices and employers to the county.”

Scott Brown

Lockton Companies

“Sustainability is high on the social agenda and should be at the forefront of manufacturing and engineering business strategy.

“In our third year as sponsors of this award we continue to be amazed by the effort and creativity that goes into some of the solutions implemented by companies in the region.”

George Ridd

SGS Berkeley Green

“The regional Engineering industry is an integral reason why SGS Berkeley Green has been developed. Opened to help bridge the skills gaps that currently exist, SGS Berkeley Green will support local economic growth by providing state of the art facilities, built so the future generation of engineers can be trained and upskilled to the levels employers require. SGS Berkeley Green is open for business and pleased to be involved with this year’s EMI Awards.”

Linsey Temple

Gloucestershire Engineering Training

“These awards highlight the achievements of Engineering and Manufacturing businesses which are the backbone of this region’s economy. This category specifically recognises the contributions apprentices make to the success of these businesses and the value they add with their knowledge, skills and talents.”

Alan Beresford

Omega Resource Group

“We are delighted to sponsor these awards for the third consecutive year, not least because we feel a dedicated celebration and showcase of engineering, technical and manufacturing businesses is a must, and vital to the Cotswold economy. Real innovation, engineering and manufacturing companies are a standout component of our employment landscape and they should be heralded.”

John Workman

BPE Solicitors

“We are once again proud to support the awards by sponsoring the Best Place to Work category.

The Awards echo the entrepreneurial spirit of BPE and the support we already give as specialist legal advisers to businesses in the STEM sector.”

David Clift

“Hazlewoods Innovation and Technology Team helps innovative companies to claim R&D tax savings (over £5.7 million last year) and to grow their businesses (transactions valued at £78 million last year). We are proud to support these awards for engineering, manufacturing and innovation, which make such a valuable contribution to our region.”

Christine Kennedy

Kava Communications

“Kava is used to working with innovators in technology, providing expert support with marketing, communications and PR. We’re able to communicate the most complicated of ideas and present them in a straightforward and compelling way. That’s why we jumped at the chance to sponsor the Technology Innovation Award at the Cotswold Life EMI awards.”

Dr Polly Pick

University of Gloucestershire

“Gloucestershire businesses have a global reputation within the engineering and manufacturing sector. As a University with a global reach, it makes sense that we are firmly focused on supporting future talent and the positive impacts that collaboration between academia and business can deliver.”

Max Morgan

“Barclays is proud to be involved in the Cotswold Life EMI Awards. As part of our continued support to companies within the region, we’re looking forward to celebrating the success of some of our best exporters who are placing the Cotswolds firmly on the international stage.”

Stewart Barnes

“The leadership and management capability of owner/managers has a major influence on a firm’s growth. Our sponsorship of the ‘Outstanding Leadership’ Award shines a light upon our mission of developing and recognising high performance leadership in sectors crucial to the Cotswolds and our nation’s economic development.”

Dorian Wragg

Bruton Knowles

“A dynamic manufacturing sector is key to UK growth and these awards capture the entrepreneurial spirit of Gloucestershire and the support we continue to provide to this sector on property matters from strategic advice to relocation. Such companies represent the ingenuity and diversity that puts Cotswold manufacturers at the forefront of engineering innovation”.

Suzanne Hall-Gibbins and Angela Edwards

“Engineering & manufacturing companies are an important sector in the south west adding huge value to the economy and we are privileged to be working with some of the region’s leading businesses in this sector. The EMI Awards are an important opportunity to celebrate success and showcase the fabulous businesses we have in this area.”
