Bruton Knowles secures planning permission within Cheltenham’s central conservation area

The Land Development team within the Gloucester office of national property consultancy, Bruton Knowles, has secured full planning permission to redevelop a prominent site in Cheltenham's Central Conservation Area.
Designated by Gloucestershire County Council in 1973, the conservation area includes the whole of the town centre, most of the Victorian, Edwardian and some of the later 20th century suburbs. It covers commercial, industrial, retail and residential areas, as well as the university campus complexes, some extensive school campuses and the hospital complex.
The site, at 66 Albion Street, Cheltenham, borders both the new John Lewis department store and the Crest Nicholson Regency Place residential regeneration scheme in an area which has undergone a significant transformation over recent years.
Working closely with Planning Officers, Bruton Knowles Land Development team, which has expertise in obtaining planning permissions in sensitive locations, presented several concepts to the Local Planning Authority from which a detailed design would be developed.
Within nine months of their appointment, the agency secured planning approval, approving a contemporary apartment block incorporating ten homes designed to complement the Neo-Georgian developments which surround the site.
Bruton Knowles has been instructed to market the site to developers immediately, creating an opportunity to develop an impressive block of apartments which will provide necessary living space within this central area of Cheltenham.
