2016 'Local Business Charity Awards' launched by Jelf Insurance Brokers

The 2016 Local Business Charity Awards have been launched for the third time in Gloucestershire
The awards, which were founded by Jelf Insurance Brokers in 2014, recognise the support given by local businesses and individuals to local Gloucestershire charities.
The categories in 2016 will remain unchanged from last year:
The Corporate Award will be given to a local Gloucestershire business, nominated by a local Gloucestershire charity, who the judges feel have gone the ‘extra mile’, either through time given, services provided or financial support to the charity. The charity will receive a prize of £1,000.
The Team Award will go to a local Gloucestershire business, nominated by a local Gloucestershire charity, who used a team of their employees at one specific event ie a garden makeover, bike ride, marathon etc, to support the charity. The charity will receive a prize of £1,000.
The Individual Award with the prize of a £250 weekend away, will be given to an individual from a Gloucestershire company, nominated by a local Gloucestershire charity, in recognition of their personal dedication and contribution to the charity.
Entry to the awards is free and the closing date for entries is Friday 21 October 2016. Finalists will be announced on Thursday 3rd November 2016. Finalists and nominating charities will be invited to attend the finals of the awards at National Star’s StarBistro at Ullenwood on Thursday 17 November 2016.
The judges for the 2016 Local Business Charity Awards will be:

• Dame Janet Trotter DBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire
• Alex Chalk, MP for Cheltenham
• The Editor of the Gloucestershire Echo
• Dr Diane Savory OBE DL, Chair of GFirst LEP
Commenting on the 2016 launch of the awards Phil Barton, Group CEO of Jelf, said, ‘My colleagues and I at Jelf in Gloucestershire are delighted to be sponsoring the Local Business Charity Awards again this year. We founded the awards in 2014, to highlight the work done by Gloucestershire businesses who support a wide variety of home-grown charities. Every year we are impressed by the dedication and commitment of companies and individuals and we are really looking forward to reading their stories again this year.’
There are a few major changes to last year’s terms and conditions of entry, the most significant being:
• Nominations will only be received from charities. Businesses may not nominate themselves
• Charities may only nominate one business in each award category. Multiple entries will not be permitted
• Businesses can only be nominated in one category for each charitable act. EG: they cannot be nominated for the Team and the Corporate award for the same charitable act or endeavour
• A local Gloucestershire charity can nominate a local branch of a National company, however a National charity cannot nominate a local Gloucestershire company
• PDFs of brochures and/or marketing material will no longer be accepted as part of entries

2015’s ‘Corporate Award’ winners were; Havas Helia for their support of The Churn Project and Listers Communications for the Nelson Trust. The ‘Team Award’ was won by Cotteswold Dairy for their support of National Star and the ‘Individual Award’ was handed to Tony Bowden of Smart Communications for his work with The Hollie Gazzard Trust. The awards recognise the contribution made by local Gloucestershire businesses and their staff to local Gloucestershire charities.
