In conjunction with Pip and Karl Bastin at The Mount Inn, Stanton, Mark Savage MW of Savage Selection Ltd., Northleach, and Javier Hidalgo of Bodegas Hidalgo 'La Gitana' hosted a presentation of Sherry and Tapas.

In conjunction with Pip and Karl Bastin at The Mount Inn, Stanton, Mark Savage MW of Savage Selection Ltd., Northleach, and Javier Hidalgo of Bodegas Hidalgo
La Gitana hosted a presentation of Sherry and Tapas.

The purpose was to show how versatile and suitable good sherry can be as a partner for a wide variety of foods, including not just almonds and olives, but Serrano Ham and Chorizo, Croquetas, Cod, Squid, Partridge, Manchego cheese, Membrillo and a host of other typical Andalusian appetizers which Karl prepared specially for the event.

A range of fine Sherry was presented to accompany the various dishes, including not only the well known Manzanilla La Gitana, but also Dry Amontillado and Oloroso styles and the ultra sweet Pedro Ximenez.
