BBC TV NEWS PRESENTER, NICHOLAS OWEN

TO APPEAR AT 'THE LIBRARY TALKS AT BOWOOD HOTEL',

CHATTING ABOUT A HALF CENTURY IN THE MEDIA ON WEDNESDAY 23 MAY

BBC TV news presenter, Nicholas Owen will be in Wiltshire next month as the featured Guest Speaker at the next in the series of The Library Talks at Bowood Hotel on Wednesday 23 May.

Visiting the 43 bedroom Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort (www.bowood-hotel.co.uk. between Calne and Chippenham), Nicholas Owen will be chatting about his new memoir Days Like This - an exhilarating half century working in the media over afternoon tea.

What is it really like to front a TV programme when everything is going wrong? Or to interview a Prime Minister? Or to cross swords with irate business tycoons or senior Royals? Nicholas Owens memoir answers these and many more such questions in his new book that tells of his zig zag journey from a local paper, via Fleet Street in its heyday, to many years of high-profile presentation of TV news including his role as ITVs Royal Correspondent from 1994 to 2000. Along with the darker times (including his lead in ITNs reporting of the death and funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales) are many lighter moments and experiences such as his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.

Nicholas Owen continues today as a journalist and presenter with BBC News, appearing on BBC One and presenting his own show on Classic FM on Saturday afternoons.

After his talk, Nicholas Owen will take questions from the floor and then there will be a book signing and sales session organised by The Corsham Bookshop. Tickets to attend the English Afternoon Tea talk - starting at 3.30pm - are priced at 15 per person and reservations should be booked in advance with Bowood Hotels Reception. Tel: 01249 822228.
