The award-winning Cirencester March Hare Festival, now in its second year, launched on May 25 with an all new Hare Passport Trail.
Visitors to the historic Cotswold town will be able to spot 30 new small hares, each decorated in a unique style, dotted around Cirencester - and mark them off on their dedicated hare passports. As in the previous year, hare spotters need to hand in their completed passports at Bingham House to enter a prize draw to win their own undecorated small white hare. Passports can be obtained from Bingham House and from the Cirencester Visitor Information Centre.
The Trail, which will run from May 25 to September 14, is being sponsored by local businesses and individuals who will get to keep their hares after September 14 when this year’s Festival ends.
On June 29 a further 20 small hares will be released to form a second trail, making this double the number of small hares sponsored last year. The challenge is out for anyone to spot all 50 hares and to complete the two trails!
Festival director, Florence Beetlestone said: “I am over the moon with the new designs and excited to see them all in place now. Sponsors have been brilliant and getting to keep them at the end is a nice reward for all their support. I can’t believe all the interest I’ve now sold out all the hares!”
