Archant

Thousands of visitors flocked to BBC Countryfile’s first live event last year, and following its monumental success it will return to Blenheim Palace this summer, promising to be bigger and better than ever. We pick ten reasons why Countryfile Live is the perfect day out for the whole family

Spot the animals at Adam’s Farm

Adam Henson has a clear passion for rearing and caring for British livestock, and he is bringing his love for farmyard animals to Countryfile Live again this year. One of the largest areas in Blenheim Palace’s beautiful grounds, friendly and rare animals will be in attendance alongside Adam and fellow farmers who will be telling the story of British farming throughout the ages.

Shop until you drop

There are over 550 exhibits and stands at Countryfile Live’s Shopping Village where visitors can pick up gifts, country clothing, home and garden ware, presents for their pets, arts & crafts and locally sourced food and drink, among plenty more. Organisers wanted to ensure those who had time to shop had plenty to do – and the array of shopping opportunities won’t disappoint!

Take a trip on The Lake

The Lake at Blenheim Palace is a stunning setting for families to try their hand at kayaking, coracling or even a spot of fishing. Embrace the peace and quiet of the scenic location and make sure you refrain from too much splashing; it’s freezing if you fall in!

Little ones will love 50 things to do before you’re 11 3/4

The National Trust’s 50 things to do before you’re 11 3/4 will keep children entertained for hours with the array of activities on offer. Kids can enjoy a rolling-race down the hill, climbing the parkland’s many trees, bug hunting and planting their own pots, as well as much more to keep them occupied.

Mouths will water and tummies will be filled!

Traditional burger and hot dog vans won’t be anywhere in sight at Countryfile Live! All the food stalls are curated by the team at Countryfile who wanted to ensure that food and drink is freshly prepared, homemade and utilises the fantastic local catering companies we have in the Cotswolds.

We’re surrounded by oceans of plastic; and so are the oceans. Our plastic bags are clogging Earth’s waters; microplastics are entering the food-chain, as birds, fish and other creatures mistakenly feed off them; even wildlife nearer to home – in the Cotswolds themselves – is killed and poisoned by this litter. So is it possible to live without plastic? And will that save the Earth? Katie Jarvis has no idea – but she tries it for a week
